Second room. Same rules as the living room: tap anything with a label, the drawing reacts, the card shows that device and what we would automate. The hall is where security lives: the front door lock, the video intercom, the alarm keypad and its sensors, plus your hallway lights, lamp, diffuser, and the washer and dryer in the cupboard. Ring the bell from the intercom card to see a visitor arrive.
Eleven things to tap: front door with its smart lock and contact sensor, video intercom, alarm keypad, hallway spots, hallway lamp, oil diffuser, motion sensor, smoke alarm, tumble dryer, washing machine, wall tablet. In the day: lights wake up, the wash runs on the cheap tariff and announces itself, the door locks and the alarm arms when the last person leaves, a courier rings and you answer from your phone, the porch camera recognises your face and the door unlocks before you reach it, and a 2 a.m. trip to the kitchen gets a dim night light from the motion sensor. At 01:35 a stranger tries the door: siren, every light full, clip to your phone, and they leave. Opening the door at any time gives the hallway five minutes of full light.
